(A) Week 2 Overview — Start Here
Welcome to Unit 2: Pulse in the Body
Last week you kept a pulse; in this morning's theory session it got its page — values, bars, time signatures, counting. This week the two shake hands: clap patterns back, count out loud, call meters duple, triple, or quadruple by ear, hold a note across a barline, and — the milestone — write down a rhythm you only heard. Dictation starts now and never leaves.

Why this makes you a better musician
Count-offs stop being theater this week: your "one, two, three, four" becomes four equal, dependable things, so the band lands beat one together — every time, in any room. And when someone claps a groove at you, you can hand it back on paper.
How to succeed: clap and count aloud — silently is half the drill. Small daily doses still rule.
(B) Announcement — Week 2

Hi everyone,
Unit 1 proved your hands know the beat. This week the beat learns its page: counting out loud, meters by their real names, and — session 1 — the course's first rhythmic dictation: two bars, a three-hearing ritual you'll use through the final, sounds you already own.
Run Tutorial 2 before session 1 — it drills the counting-to-notation translation the studio assumes. Session 2: ties across the barline, partner sheets, and the skills check. Recordings, practice, and your first self-dictation close at the end of the week. Next week: The divided beat, heard.
Bring a pencil. Your ears are bringing everything else.
