Week 6 — Tools · Intervals Outward I

Aural Skills I · MUS 155 Fictional sample

Course: MUS 155 Aural Skills I · Kenosis College
Instructor: Professor Hemsworth
Unit: Learning Unit 6 of 15 (Week 6) · two sessions per week
Purpose: the free interval trainer this week's daily loop and Submission 6 assume. It loads in any browser, needs no account and no download, and was verified live during this build. The Unit 1 Tools page's tone generator remains your pitch source for the singing tasks.

The interval trainer

Toned Ear — Interval Ear Training — your identification reps for the daily loop and the Submission 6 tool protocol.

This week's pinned settings — set them before your first answer:

  • Intervals: choose the custom selection and check only m2, M2, m3, M3, P4, P5. Uncheck everything wider; the wide ones join the menu next week.
  • Direction: Ascending & Descending. (Skip Harmonic for now — stacked intervals arrive with chord work later in the term.)
  • Speed: Medium — drop to Slow on days the thirds blur.
  • Fixed Root: leave unchecked for the real workout; check it ("always begin on same note") only as an easier on-ramp early in the week.

Answer with the on-screen buttons or the bracketed hotkeys. When a round ends, the site shows a results table — times heard, times wrong, accuracy per interval. That table is exactly the "tool's own session summary" the submission protocol asks you to save or screenshot as evidence.

The trainer speaks plain interval names — m3, P5 — and imposes no syllable system or key convention, so nothing it says can collide with this course's conventions. Ignore any optional account features; the trainer runs without one.

One boundary worth restating: tools are for practice and for documented at-home protocols. Everything that counts summatively in this course is heard live, in the room.
