(A) Week 10 Overview — Start Here
Welcome to Unit 10: Sevenths by Ear
Last week the do–mi–sol shape got its name; this week the stack grows one note taller. You'll sing the four seventh chords living inside every major key, tell maj7 from the bare 7 by ear, and feel why the dominant seventh pulls. This morning, theory spells the five qualities; an hour later your voice walks them.

Why this makes you a better musician
You'll read Cmaj7, C7, and Cm7 off a chart and pre-hear three different sounds before your hand touches the instrument — the gap between reading chord symbols and knowing them. It lets you catch a bandmate's wrong seventh in one bar and feel a turnaround coming.
How to succeed: sing the ladder daily, a new do each day. Two minutes of do–mi–sol–ti beats an hour of staring.

Hi everyone,
A secret about the charts you've read for years: those suffixes — maj7, 7, m7 — were never decoration. Each promises how the chord will feel, and this week your ear learns to collect.
Do Tutorial 10 before session 1 — its symbol work is the spelling the studio sings. In session 1 we walk the four seventh chords every major key contains, and taste the one it doesn't; session 2: a new rhythm snap, dictation that arpeggiates, Skills Check 10. Recordings and practice close at the end of the week. Next week: Harmonic listening I.
